"Did you see that?" cries Other Analyst, pointing at the car park. "A weasel stoaty thing with a dead animal in its mouth." And so it was, or maybe a ferret. Quite young looking, trying to find a nice safe bush to hide in but not having much luck among the cars, ended up heaving its dead baby rabbit across the tarmac.

Someone posted a link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypermobility and I went reading.
"Prolotherapy injections work for some." it says - no link or reference, so I went to Google and started typing. "p-r-o-l-o-t" autocomplete suggests "prolotherapy scam". *sigh*

If you're hypermobile have you seen a rheumy to see if you have EDS like me?

Getting that diagnosis really changed my life in that things fell into place and I can explain myself to people now, and get support. And appropriate painkillers, which include pregabalin (but amitriptyline works for others).

I have a bad back a lot these days - on waking - but after a walk with Cray and then sitting all day in my special Access To Work supportive chair, it's ok... until I go to bed all over again. Gah, days, they just repeat over and over!

They said "hypermobility" but not EHD, gave me a book recommendation (Pain: The Science of Suffering by Patrick Wall) which was good, and that the best they could offer is pain management and life modifications.

Which works pretty well in general.

I'll look that book up. Have I recommended any to you before? The physio one is quite good. Brad Tinkle less so. And oh! My consultant has co-written a book out on 1 Sept - I must pre order it, I'm sure anything he writes will be good :-) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hypermobility-Fibromyalgia-Chronic-Pain-Hakim/dp/0702030058/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282040284&sr=8-2

http://www2.cochrane.org/reviews/en/ab004059.html suggests it's possible legit-ish but also not very effective.

Depends on method - see here. General full text review here. Special issue on non-surgical management of chronic low-back pain here - academics we know may have full access.

I didn't know you were hypermobile.

Mine isn't too bad, but it's often a source of pain. Wikipedia is right when it says hypermoboile people have to exercise more than others. I'm having to work my knees back to fitness, yet again, in spite of daily walks.
