This might be silly but you can get SIM adapters. I have to stick my ickle micro SIM in a big sim-shaped thing so it can go in my phone. I suppose it might be a tad harder if your phone takes a mini sim and yours is full size...

I might be able to fit my big old SIM into the big new slot if I could take about a millimetre off one edge..

You can do exactly that provided the contacts still line up. And you can cut down SIM to micro-SIM with a template and steady hand, I've done that - the body is all plastic, the gubbins is under the metal.

Ooh, with a - knife? scissors? I can't think what would be a good cutting tool. Bit nervous to try. I think I do have mini SIM and need micro SIM.
